Monique McCreanor: Jetstar slammed once AGAIN for pricey fees

Artemisia BlythePerthNow

A popular Australian airline has been slammed once again after a TikTok user posted a video warning customers about ‘wild’ fees.

Australian woman Monique McCreanor posted a video a few days ago accusing Jetstar of charging customers ridiculous fees for excess baggage.

“I’m totally fine with paying extra — But $75 for 900 grams is wild,” she said.

After winning the Deka Strong fitness competition, Ms McCreanor was forced to change her flight from Melbourne to Sydney.

She said she would prefer to have booked with Virgin; however, Jetstar was the only one with flights available.

The TikTok user was running late to the gate and travelled with only carry-on luggage.

“This isn’t a complaint. This is just warning you guys that if you do fly with Jetstar and your bag is even 100 grams overweight, you’re going to get charged $75 at the gate for that excess luggage,” she said.

What was most upsetting to Ms McCreanor was that she could have had 15kg in the bag for the high cost.

“$75 is a little bit steep for just 900 grams overweight,” she said.

TikTok users were divided on who to side with.

“Sounds like a complaint to me. Why did you take protein powder with you? Why not buy it at the other end?” one user commented.

Another said, “Yeah, coz guess what weight is important in flights ... rules are rules. It’s on the terms and conditions.”

One woman agreed with Ms McCreanor, commenting:

“I had the same issue over the weekend! Told them ‘wait a minute,’ then put on 3 pairs of pants and 2 jackets out of my bad and it was good to go. It’s pretty ridiculous.”

A Jetstar spokesperson told news.com.au, “We remind customers of carry-on limits during the booking process, in booking itineraries, in pre-departure emails, at check-in and at the boarding gate.”
