Then one night the former Joondalup Retravision manager, who is passionate about barbecues and the outdoors, sat upright in bed.

‘It was two o’clock in the morning and The Outdoor Chef just came to me,’ he said.

‘I jumped up and didn’t go back to bed that night.

‘I got the textas out and designed the logo and whole colour scheme.’ Mr Davies, who will be the northern suburbs Weber specialist dealer, will open the store this Saturday.

It will be selling goods ranging from indoor and outdoor gas fires to alfresco kitchens and portable eco-smart fires.

‘I love barbecues,’ he said of his idea for the new business in Winton Road.

‘I love entertaining outside with parties, having a beer, relaxing and enjoying the weather in Perth compared to other places around the world.’

He said it was ironic he would be confined to the indoors to sell the outdoor lifestyle.

‘You have to have a showroom to do it,’ he said.
