A CARER at a Balcatta nursing home allegedly stole an 82-year-old dementia patient’s bank card to make fraudulent purchases.

Police charged a 34-year-old Alexander Heights woman with two counts of fraud yesterday.

The female victim’s son reported the matter to police about two weeks ago.

Investigators alleged CCTV footage showed the woman using the card to make purchases at an Alexander Heights supermarket on August 25.

She allegedly made one transaction in the morning and then another in the afternoon, totalling $91.

The nursing home where the alleged thief was employed has been contacted for comment.

She is due in Joondalup Magistrates Court next month.
