Girrawheen parents cook up a storm thanks to Jamie’s Ministry of Food

A GROUP of Girrawheen parents have enhanced their cooking skills at a series of classes in Joondalup.

The parents, from Roseworth Child and Parent Centre in Girrawheen, took part in a seven-week cooking course with Jamie’s Ministry of Food at Edith Cowan University, thanks to a partnership between the university and City of Wanneroo.

Wanneroo Mayor Tracey Roberts said participants learnt how to cook healthy, budget-friendly and nutritious meals for their families.

“Assisting parents to hone their skills in cooking well-balanced meals for their children will help build a generation of young people who understand the importance of eating well,” she said.

Parents picked up hints and tips inspired by celebrity chef Jamie Oliver, from how to prepare a roast dinner to how to use up leftovers.
