HOCKING dog owner Andrea Pollard is sharing her love of greyhounds as part of a Perth event on Sunday.

The owner of two adopted ex-racing greyhounds has helped organise the inaugural Hounds Day Out on Sunday.

The event is open to all dogs and their owners, with a variety of canine-themed stalls, activities, fun competitions and a barbecue for humans to enjoy, and profits will go to rescue group Greyhound Adoptions WA.

Ms Pollard said her life had changed since adopting Misty and Leah.

“I have had the pleasure of their company and love every day for nearly five years and I want more people to be able to experience this,” she said.

“Greyhounds really are the best pet for most families – they’re low-maintenance, don’t need much exercise, but mostly they’re incredibly loving animals who just love to be with their families.”

The day includes a photo booth, dog wash and competitions such as most number of treats caught, ending with a walk along the Swan River led by Woodvale Secondary College companion dog Boots.

The event is at Supreme Court Gardens, 10am to 1pm.
