Joanna wrote to the council asking if there was a way to get the community together after she noticed more people cleaning up rubbish.
‘There is lots of bushland and greenery, it’s too big an area for a few City workers to do,’ she said. ‘I thought, why not all work together?’
Joanna organised a guided walk with the City of Wanneroo conservation team to teach residents about the plants and animals and point out the seasonal wildflowers.
‘I think you should be proud of where you live, we’ve just got to get out and clean it up and the litter bugs will learn by example.’
Through the walk, Joanna also hopes to find a resident named ‘Jeff’ ” known by locals for proactively helping to keep the suburb tidy.
