Outdoor boost for smart school

The State Government money helped pay for an open gable patio, recycled timber table and recycling bins at the Waste Wise school in Marangaroo.

School Waste Wise co-ordinator Sue Winterburn said waste minimising had helped students reduce the amount of waste sent to landfill.

‘We want our students to develop the knowledge, skills and values necessary for them to act in ways that contribute to more sustainable patterns of living,’ she said.

Rubbish from break time is sorted into paper, food and landfill bins. Food waste is fed to worms and the paper is shredded for compost.
