Main Roads WA spokesman Dean Roberts said full freeway closures was its new approach to conducting routine maintenance including pruning, drainage, streetlight, litter collection, sweeping and line marking works.

“Undertaking works over four consecutive nights will minimise the overall disturbances to nearby residents and road users, as well as creating a safer working environment for all personnel on site,” he said.

“Previously, each individual work activity would have been conducted under lane closures on different nights, meaning nearby residents and road users would experience disturbances over many nights.”

Signed detours will be in place during the closures.
