POLICE are on the hunt for a man driving a stolen white Holden Maloo 2015 ute after a series of break-ins and an assault on an off-duty police officer early this morning.

The man entered a house on Mirrabooka Avenue in Girrawheen this morning at 1.40am after smashing a glass door.

He searched through the property and took the resident’s car keys.

A female police officer who was off-duty and at the house heard the man and when she confronted him outside the house, she was hit over the head with a blunt object.

He then drove away in the victim’s white ute.

The woman went to hospital for treatment to facial and arm injuries.

Shortly afterwards, a window was smashed at a house in St Albans Road, Nollamara.

When the man entered the house, he was scared off after being yelled at by one of the occupants.

The white ute was seen driving off in the area at this time with its headlights off.

The car was spotted by police at 3.40am in Yew Court, Mirrabooka, but sped off after seeing the police car.

Anyone with information about the crimes or the location of the ute should contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or make a report online at www.crimestopperswa.com.au.
