Elated after the Dockers qualifying final win against Geelong, Year 5 teacher Tony Silvio strutted around the Ocean Reef school in a purple hat, Dockers jumper and matching cape.

By the time Freo made the grand final, the whole school decided to show their support with a Dockers Day.

‘I was quite surprised by the number of people who got involved, even diehard Eagles supporters donned the royal purple,’ Mr Silvio said.

Students paraded in their Dockers gear with four best-dressed supporters chosen.

‘It just created a great feel around the whole school for the day,’ he said. ‘I am a strong believer that events like these not only show a strong school and community spirit, but create a fun and enthusiastic learning environment.’

Principal Jo Stephens agreed the school event promoted sportsmanship, teamwork, citizenship and an active involvement with the community.
