Students find purpose in lunchtime garden club

Students at North Woodvale Primary School spent three weeks clearing and tidying several unused garden beds ready for planting last week.

‘We are currently taking children from Years 2 and 5 and the Year 5 students act as mentors for the younger students,’ Ms Nettleton said.

‘We asked teachers directly which students would benefit from a lunchtime gardening club where they meet and interact with other students.’

The success of the program with the 21 students involved has led the teachers to prepare four six-week programs continuing into next year.
