The Woodvale Secondary College student trains at The Boulder Hub in Wangara five times a week.

Following her results at the national Youth Climbing Championships in May, she has earned a place on the team competing in Australia as well as the Oceania Lead, Speed and Boulder Titles in New Caledonia in October.

“I’m really excited as it will be a good experience,” she said.

Lilly aims to continue competing in international events and is eyeing the 2020 Olympic Games, where climbing will be included for the first time.

“I want to be a good role model and encourage younger kids to try climbing,” she said.

“It’s a really great sport; everyone is super-supportive.”

Her family is fundraising to cover costs associated with attending the competitions.
