The team will make up the Cricket Australia XI in a challenge against older players for next season’s under-17 National Championships.

An international series for early 2018 is also on the cards.

National talent manager Greg Chappell said it was a difficult selection process.

“There was such a good spread of talent across all teams and plenty of competition for places,” he said.

“That said, we are really pleased with the final result of the selection process, and the quality of talent within this Australia under-16s squad.”
