Fantasy Land: 11-year-old Rockingham girl to see her play debut

Gabrielle JefferyWeekend Kwinana Courier

AN incredible young theatrical talent is blossoming in Rockingham with the debut of her play, Fantasy Land, on this Saturday.

A musical, it is written by 11-year-old Hannah-Jade Keppler, who also wrote three original scores for the play, and made most of the costumes and set props.

Echoing the timeless sentiment of good versus evil, Keppler gives it a modern flavour as she takes you on journey of intrigue where a spoilt brat, a magical realm and dark lord complete with minions all come together for a tale of intrigue.

Lillian is a selfish 10-year-old girl from London who has everything money can buy, but not love or friends.

One night she is transported to Fantasy Land, stolen by an elf who believes Lillian is the chosen one – destined to save Fantasy Land.

The land is divided into two communities, the good side and the Dark Isles – overseen by the Dark Lord and his siblings who take good fairies and elves to serve as slaves for their bidding.

It begs the question: can the brat, 10-year-old Lillian from London overcome her selfish ways to save the day and restore peace in Fantasy Land? Does she even want to save it?

It’s a journey of self-discovery and Keppler has been working on two more instalments to the original.

Two sessions of Fantasy Land premiere on October 21 at 4.30pm and 7pm at the Rockingham Arts Centre. Tickets are $5 each.

For more information check out her Facebook page – Fantasy Land Play.

Tickets are available at Eventbrite.com.au/fantasy-land-play.
