Chance for kids to take picture book from idea to publication with Warnbro author Teena Raffa-Mulligan

Vanessa SchmittWeekend Kwinana Courier

Teena is one of 10 creators taking part in Books From Your Backyard, which will feature WA children’s authors and illustrators reading, performing and creating drawings.

An Illustrator Duelin, where illustrators battle it out as they draw their responses to a series of wacky prompts, is also on the program.

Teena said her 30-minute session Story Tracks would feature Blue, the bouncing red kangaroo, and her little mate Pedro, the chihuahua, from her picture book True Blue Amigos.

“Kids will join Blue and Pedro in their Aussie adventure as they travel the states of Australia looking for a place to call home and follow the story’s journey from idea to published book,” she said.

“I’m thrilled to be joining so many wonderful WA children’s book creators for this fun family event.”

All sessions are free and no bookings are required.

Books will be available for sale and signing and there will be an activity table where children not attending sessions can enjoy a range of book-themed craft activities.
