Cooloongup: alleged shooting and assault being investigated

AN ALLEGED shooting incident in Cooloongup yesterday is under investigation by Rockingham Detectives.

About 5.30pm a 32-year-old man was chased by another man allegedly carrying a firearm who then fired blank cartridges at the victim.

The victim jumped over fences and ran through the backyards of houses on Toora Place as he was chased by the other man.

It is alleged the man caught the victim and dragged him to a white Mitsubishi Magna sedan and forced him into the back seat.

He tried to drive away but the victim jumped out of the moving car.

The man then chased the victim again and tackled him on Windale Place before forcing him into the boot of the car.

The car drove away closely followed by a small black coloured vehicle.

Police arrived a short time later and set up a protected forensic area.

They said the victim returned to the scene about 7.45pm and spoke with police.

He was taken to Rockingham General Hospital for treatment for minor injuries received after being assaulted at a secondary location.

The victim was released a short time later and took police to River and Henderson roads in Hopeland where he claimed to have been assaulted by two men and a woman.
