‘It is going to be a very competitive election this year,’ he said. ‘We have more candidates than we have seen for the last decade with a total of 19 candidates nominated across the four wards.’
While voting is not compulsory, Cr Sammels said councillors made decisions that shaped local communities on everything from development and land zoning to environmental issues to the provision of community services, so they should reflect the needs of constituents.
‘Post completed voting packages well before October 19 as it must be received by 6pm on election day,’ he said.
