Kelly and Chelsie Wootton are members of St John Event Health Services, and both were rewarded for their hard work and leadership.

Kelly received her First Bar, available to people who have given 17 years of service, and Chelsie was one of three finalists in the Young Volunteer of the Year award.

Kelly’s dedication to St John began at the age of 12 when she became a cadet with the Fremantle Cadet Division. When she turned 18, she became a volunteer first-aid provider and in 2002 became a divisional officer.

She transferred to Rockingham Cadet Division in 2003 where she also took on the role of public events coordinator. In 2010, she was rewarded for her commitment to volunteering by being admitted as a Member to the Order of St John. In 2012 she relocated to Melville Cadet Division where she was appointed acting cadet divisional manager.

Chelsie joined St John 12 years ago as a junior member, and has since been a source of inspiration and motivation for the members at Melville Cadet Division. She has already received her nine-year service pin and the Grand Prior’s Award, and was last year chosen to join a team of St John members from across Australia to travel to Mae Tao in Thailand and teach first aid.

She also travelled to other areas to dispense medication to poor communities.
