FOOD REVIEW: New Year’s Eve at Isle of Voyage “glorious”

Belinda CiprianoWestern Suburbs Weekly

Located on “the Island,” the former Florence Hummerston Kiosk combines a restaurant, bar, outdoor dining space and general store with spectacular views to the river and Perth city skyline.

The Isle on the Riviera, Italian style feast started like any Italian journey – with antipasti.

Beautiful fresh grazing boards with pickled fremantle octopus, cured meats, taleggio cheese, marinated olives and grissini paired with a crisp prosecco – it was the perfect start to the evening.

What is an Italian feast without pizza and pasta?

Well that was next.

And what is better than a margherita and capricciosa for your pizza course?

Delicious wood-fired pizza topped with tomato sugo (sauce), mozzarella, basil, extra virgin olive oil, while the capricciosa had just the right amount of marinated artichokes and field mushrooms to mozzarella and ham ratio – so yummy.

Lasagne was next and while I was getting pretty full, it was New Year’s so what the hey.

Layers of spinach and ricotta nestled between layers of fresh pasta was melt-in-your-mouth good; so much so I went back for seconds. Too full for dessert, which by the way, was tiramisu, I finished my Italian journey on a high and vowed to visit again soon.

I mean, who needs resolutions when you can have food, glorious food?
