Head boy’s first speech scores with visionary take

Staff ReporterWestern Suburbs Weekly

The 17-year-old recently won the My First Speech competition out of 96 entries from years 10 to 12 students from across Australia for his mock parliament maiden speech representing his electorate Tangney.

His non-partisan speech focused on introducing policies that promoted multiculturalism, boosted productivity in small business, eliminated spending wastage to invest in education, health and infrastructure, and a call for politicians to bring an end to negative politics and point scoring.

‘(Politicians) should focus more on what they are about and their policies as opposed to bagging the other side out saying ‘if he wins you lose’,’ Johnson said.
