Cottesloe, 43 Eric Street – Offers by June 27

Natalie HordovWestern Suburbs Weekly

THERE is more to this house than meets the eye.

The owner said it was quirky and interesting and totally unexpected based on what you see from the outside.

In effect there are two houses in one, with two self-contained sections allowing you to accommodate visitors with ease or give children as much independence as desired.

The owner bought the home, on a 665sq m block, 13 years ago.

“I walked through the doors of the house and was delighted to find myself in a courtyard with the two sections of the home surrounding it,” she said.

“It creates an atmosphere of tranquillity and intimacy.”

The home has a Mediterranean style and the courtyard is a special place.

“The hurly-burly of the world is left behind,” the owner said.

“The perfumed flowers in the intimate space conjure an atmosphere of the exotic: North Africa, Spain for example, and the magic is there throughout the day.”

The central kitchen is also much loved.

“It is large enough to accommodate a few people working there, as well as other friends being able to chat from over the bench,” the owner said.

The front of the home can be accessed from the entry hallway and basement garage.

It includes a roomy living/dining area that opens to a terrace, and a kitchenette.

Stairs lead to two bedrooms, both with balconies and walk-in robes, and a bathroom.

On the other side of the hallway is a study and as you move through to the back of the home, you pass the main kitchen and dining area, which opens to the courtyard, alfresco area and pool.

Then there is a second large living area, bedroom and bathroom.

The master bedroom is upstairs and has a large walk-in robe, ensuite and balcony.

The owner is downsizing and will be sorry to leave the friendly community and convenient location.

“I’ve enjoyed the proximity to the beach, with shopping and coffee within 50m and a short walk to public transport,” she said.
