Montana ArdonHills Avon Valley Gazette

Hasluck MHR Ken Wyatt said the NBN would enable local businesses to be more productive.

“The NBN will open up a range of new opportunities for businesses,” he said.

“It will allow students to learn, make it easier for residents in Chidlow East to stay in touch with family and friends online and allow everyday tasks like accessing government services or paying bills to be done quickly and easily.”

Over coming weeks, local residents will see NBN sub-contractors connecting the area with new high-speed broadband technology.

“High-speed broadband is the essential infrastructure of the 21st century and the NBN will provide the platform to deliver a range of economic and social benefits to residents in Hasluck,” Mr Wyatt said.

Homes and business in Chidlow will be connected to the NBN using fixed wireless technology.

Fixed wireless technology offers wholesale download speeds of up to 50 Mbps, more than twice as fast as ADSL2+ services experienced in metropolitan areas.

In Hasluck, around 57,000 homes will have NBN construction underway or be able to access the network by the second half of 2018, and every home and business in Australia should be able to connect to the nbn by 2020.

“More than 80,000 homes and businesses across Australia are signing up to the NBN every single month and there are already 5427 premises in Hasluck who have signed up to the NBN,” Mr Wyatt said.
