FOOD rescue charity OzHarvest and mortgage brokers prepared 305 meals for homeless people in Ellenbrook last month.

The charity held one of its Cooking for a Cause events at the Ellenbrook Community Centre on July 11, partnering with Aussie Home Loans.

The company’s WA/SA manager Paul Evans praised the team’s enthusiasm.

“(They) prepared 305 meals delivered to two homeless service providers – 55 Central and Foundation Housing and a women’s refuge for the Salvation Army,” he said.

With the help of OzHarvest chefs, staff prepared beef kofta, cauliflower and chickpea salad , pasta shells with sausage ragu, Moroccan carrot salad, corn fritters and minestrone soup.

“The Aussie team got to learn a lot from them while having their share of fun through various stages of a competition between them,” OzHarvest state manager Jennifer Keen said.

The mortgage broker announced a partnership with the charity in March, which includes cash donations and programs where staff raise funds and volunteer for the charity.
