BE part of an attempt to create a new world record for the most people stargazing across multiple venues next week.

Hope Farm Guest House in York is listed among the WA locations registered to host a star party on Wednesday night.

The free community event will feature a live screening of Stargazing Live with Brian Cox.

People who take part will focus on the moon through a telescope or binoculars for a 10-minute period simultaneously across multiple sites throughout Australia.

The current world record, set in 2015 by the Australian National University, stands at 7960 people across 37 locations.
