Shire President Andrew Waddell said the annual event was a wonderful way to celebrate the birth of a new baby in the community.

“Several parks and reserves are selected where the commemorative planting will take place, with more than 100 families taking part each year,” he said.

“This year families will be invited to take part in a community planting day and help revegetate a local park where their child can play in the future.”

Participating families will receive a tree to take home for planting, together with a personalised certificate for their child.

“All family members are encouraged to attend the special planting day to help beautify a local area which their child can enjoy as they grow up,” Cr Waddell said.

Registration forms are available from the Shire administration building, libraries, recreation centre and child health centres and on the website at www.kalamunda.|wa.gov.au.

The event is open to parents of babies born between May last year and April 2016.

Registrations close on May 23.
