VOLUNTEER firefighters enlisted by Santa Claus will help deliver gifts to children throughout the Mt Helena district on Christmas morning.

Santa will leave the fire station in Chidlow Street about 7.30am to visit all the homes on his busy schedule until noon.

Parents can drop off presents for transportation and delivery from the brigade’s unique reindeer truck to the Mt Helena Post Office from December 12 to 21.

Gifts must be easy to handle and clearly labelled with the child’s name and address, and where possible showing a street number rather than a lot number.

Firefighter Robin Gill asked children to keep a lookout for their delivery and wait at their gate.

He said the Mt Helena Voluntary Bush Fire Brigade had escorted Santa Claus on his local rounds for more than 40 years.

“As Santa Claus has a long way to go and a lot of people to see, he will not be able to go up driveways and cannot wait too long if children are not present,” he said.
