ONE supermarket chain is getting the jump on Easter, stocking hot cross buns from today.
We may have only just got past Christmas and New Year, and Good Friday may not be until March 30, but Woolworths are getting in early with their hot cross bun range.
With Australians devouring 72 million Woolworths hot cross buns last year alone, a 20 per cent year-on-year increase, there is no doubting the popularity of the Easter staple.
“We know the countdown is on for our customers for hot cross buns as soon as Christmas is over,” Woolworths Bakery Manager Ben Thompson said.

A six-pack of traditional hot cross buns will set you back $3.50, while Woolworths new brioche-style hot cross buns with fruit are the same price.
