Maida Vale masters swimmer receives Lynne Duncan award from peak body

Staff writerHills Avon Valley Gazette

Duncan has served MSWA in several areas, including her present position of marketing director on the board.

She officiated at the 2015 FINA World Championships in Kazan last year, has officiated as a referee since 2002 and presented technical officials courses and workshops over the years.

Research shows that training in a group increases motivation and enhances the results achieved. Masters Swimming clubs are located at most metropolitan aquatic centres in WA and the members are proof of the benefits of belonging to a club.

Clubs are open to anyone aged 18 and above who can swim a few laps. A recent survey of members shows the ability to get fit in a friendly environment and the social aspects are the best parts of belonging to their club.

“I encourage anyone who can swim a few laps, no matter what age, size or fitness level to visit their local Masters club to see what being a member of a club involves,” Masters Swimming WA executive officer Sam Noall said.

Masters Swimming WA congratulated Duncan on her award.
