THEY may still be a few trophies short of a baker’s dozen, but Oven Crisp Bakery have walked away with an award at The Great Aussie Pie Competition for the third year running.

The Riverton bakery took out the prize for best Plain Sausage Roll, beating out stiff competition from bakeries across the country to claim the trophy.

Their victory followed their back-to-back successes in the best pie award in 2017 and 2016.

Owner Jimmy Dang said they had focused on winning the sausage roll category after they came close

“We tried last year and came third, so we knew what to improve this year and gave it a shot and got the award,” he said.

Mr Dang said their winning sausage role was a result of hard work and a meticulous approach to choosing their own ingredients.

“We choose our own seasoning and we mix it through,” he said.

“There’s more flavour; it’s a fuller flavour.”
