Sand (31) said his teacher and playwright for the performance Noel O’Neill won the Beryl Silvester Award for Best New Writing and accepted his award on his behalf.

‘I had no recommendation to attend because I’m still very new, so I was certainly not expecting to win,’ he said.

‘I will definitely continue with it, but as far as professional acting goes, I will just have to wait and see.’

Snow and Ash is about two clowns who have lost their way from the circus and try to get across the border of the country they are touring.

Sand said he played a character that may or may not be a reference to a biblical figure.

The engineer said it would be fun to try his hand at theatre.

‘I’m not quitting my day job yet, engineering is what puts food on my table,’ he said.
