The 12-week program will be launched this Thursday, thanks to Community Arts Network, which has funded $2260 worth of tuition.

CAHRS events officer Ryan Schulz said the program provided emerging artists the opportunity to be part of industry professional workshops at no cost.

‘Participants will be introduced to a variety of techniques in performance art from presentation and characterisation, to diving into the mindset behind a performance artist and their work, breaking down the understanding from creating to performing,’ Mr Schulz said.

The workshops will provide tuition in developing acts, which will be showcased at the 2014 Canning Show’s Performance Art Installation on October 31 and November 1.

‘Programs like this make for such a confidence booster and improve self-esteem in such a large way, they become a part of the story that is our lives,’ he said.

The workshops will be held every Thursday from 6.30pm at the Cannington Exhibition Centre.
