Education and Aboriginal Affairs Minister Peter Collier announced Aimee Coles as winner of the VET prize as part of the Rob Riley Memorial Prize winners at Parliament House.

Ms Coles was enrolled at Lynwood Senior High School, but studied off-site with Sports Education and Development Australia (SEDA).

She participated in the netball development program at SEDA to hone her talent in the sporting arena while completing her studies.

As an aside to her studies, she ran netball coaching clinics at primary schools, where she developed a love for teaching. This prompted her to do a bridging course at the University of Notre Dame so she can study teaching.

Mr Collier said Ms Coles was a determined student who achieved not only her WACE but also Certificates II and III in Sport and Recreation and a Certificate II in Sport Coaching while at school.
