Art grows on painter

When her children went to school, she went back to drawing and painting classes.

Starting with watercolour, the Animal Art Award People's Choice winner changed to acrylic and now paints exclusively with oils.

Zeller describes her painting style as mostly realist.

"Art for me is being able to quiet my mind to concentrate on just one thing " placing strokes of colour in shapes on a support to represent what you really see," she said.

"My inspiration comes from light patterns playing on objects showing their form."

Listing one of her greatest achievements as having her artwork on display at Applecross Fine Art and Framing, Zeller hopes to travel through Europe on an extended painting trip.

She also hopes to go to America to paint in workshops with artists she admires.

But for now, the talented artist is part of the Alfred Cove Art Society (ACAS) Awards of Excellence exhibition.

The 16th annual awards will be held at the Atwell Gallery from May 12 to 17.

The official opening is on Tuesday, May 12 at 7.30pm.

Artwork will be available to view and buy.
