A BIT of the past was brought into the present at a local high school last week.
Rossmoyne Senior High School’s original bell was returned to the place it once tolled in a special ceremony as staff, students and alumni prepare to celebrate the school’s 50th anniversary next year.
Former principal of 19 years Max Petrich was a special guest at the event, regaling students with the significance of the bell when the school opened in 1968.

Rossmoyne SHS principal Milanna Heberle said the bell was very symbolic to the school.
“It reminds us of how the school has grown in the past 50 years and provides us with a connection to our past,” she said.
“We are looking forward to celebrating 50 years of excellence next year and are grateful that Max was able to join us to ring the old fashioned school bell and commemorate the end of our half century.”
A number of events will be held next year to celebrate the 50th anniversary.
