Bentley Masters Dairy depot site up for sale

Jaime ShurmerCanning Gazette

A MASTERS Dairy depot site on Channon Street in Bentley is up for grabs, with expressions of interest called for the proposed Lot 2.

The depot has stood at the site for nearly 20 years and spans nearly 2.9 ha.

“In an area, starved of affordable development opportunities, this one a kind land parcel will be appealing to both developers and owner-occupiers and with the commercial lending rates still low and competitive construction costs, now is the time to make a plan for the future,” Raine & Horne Commercial’s Simon Matthews said.

Expressions of interest close December 8.

Lion Dairy and Drinks, a Japanese-owned company that markets Masters in WA, is investing more than $40 million in its Bentley dairy manufacturing by modernising the plant and consolidating depots into a single WA distribution centre at Radium Street – a process due to be complete early 2018.

The sole depot is now operational and the warehouse operations have been outsourced to Linfox.

The process involved 30 redundancies last year, all within the logistics function onsite at Bentley.

The distribution centre takes milk from 29 WA farmers.
