Bentley prison escapee Santana Mason appears in court

A MINIMUM security prisoner appeared in court today after allegedly escaping from Boronia Pre-Release Centre for Women in Bentley over the weekend.

27-year-old Santana Marie Mason appeared in the Perth Magistrates Court today but was not required to enter a plea.

She was allegedly found and recaptured in Cockburn, under a pile a laundry, after leaving the Bentley facility at 11am on Saturday.

Mason was charged with escaping from lawful custody.

A 35-year-old woman from Cockburn Central was charged with aiding an escapee as police allege she told them the 27-year-old was not in the home but a search of the residence resulted in her being found.
