Bevan rewarded for bringing communities together

Mr Dellar organised and participated in the 2500km bicycle ride from Perth to Broome with his team of riders from Fairholme Disability Support Group.

The group was on the road for a month and Mr Dellar rode 1800km with them.

‘I couldn’t always be on the bike because of events and meetings along the way,’ he said. ‘Plus I’m nearly 70 years old, so I had to keep it safe.’

Therapy Focus in Bentley received a highly commended award in the governance and leadership category for a series of workshops to encourage families and carers to decide what they wanted in self-directed services.

The awards were the run by the Disability Services Commission as part of Disability Awareness Week.
