Canadian man accused of indecent assault used online game to “groom” underage Perth victim

A CANADIAN man has been charged after he allegedly used an online game to groom a 14-year-old victim of an indecent assault who lived in Perth.

Cannington Detectives have charged the 33-year-old man following an investigation into activities that allegedly occurred shortly after he arrived in Perth.

Detectives claim the man befriended the 14-year-old girl while playing an online game and arranged to travel to Perth so they could meet.

On Tuesday, October 23 the man arrived in Perth from Vancouver.

Shortly after arriving he met with the girl and led her to his accommodation where detectives alleged he indecently assaulted her.

Police were advised and on Wednesday (October 24) Cannington detectives arrested the man in the Cannington District.

The 33-year-old man was charged with five counts of indecently dealing with a child aged over 13 and under 16 and persistent sexual conduct with a child under 16.
