Canning agencies in partnership to support parents

TWO southeast metropolitan not-for-profit agencies have collaborated to deliver parenting support to families living in the City of Canning.

Communicare Inc and Save the Children have partnered to form the South East Metro Parenting Support Service.

It will assist those in parenting roles with the challenges of raising children aged from birth to 18 years.

Communicare CEO Melissa Perry said Communicare’s 40-year history of providing services in the southeast metropolitan region made the agency well-placed to respond to parenting needs. Funded by the State Government, the new model is a long-term proposal that aims to respond to parenting needs of families, with particular regard for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander and culturally and linguistically diverse communities, males and young people in parenting roles.
