PLANS for a revitalised Canning City centre (right) won an urban design award for excellence at the Australian Institute of Landscape Architects (WA) Awards ceremony last month.

The City’s appointed landscape architects Place Laboratory were presented with the award for their work on the City centre masterplan, called The Riverine City – Urban Design & Public Realm Masterplan.

Canning chief executive Arthur Kyron said the plan linked the Cannington train station, Canning City centre and the Canning River for pedestrians.

The first stage of the $70 million City Centre plan has begun with stage 1 being the Cecil Avenue West redevelopment due for completion by the end of 2018.
