GATES spun as thousands of Cannington and surrounding suburbs residents flocked to the Canning Show last weekend.
The 107th show coincided with the unveiling of new exhibition halls, which held 2881 entries from 403 exhibitors, viewed by 6281 punters throughout the weekend.
Marketing and events manager Ryan Schulz said the new showgrounds made for an exciting weekend.
“The lead up to this year’s show was astronomical with overseeing the reconstruction of the new Canning Showgrounds,” he said.
“Layout after layout was planned, set and then re-planned and re-set, yet come the weekend of the show it all came together as a successfully received event.”
Mr Schulz said the two-night event was a dynamic mix of activities for people of all ages, citing the first-night sky show and a Saturday Night Live tribute as crowd favourites.
“Friday night the grounds filled like a sardine can for the opening night fireworks display, and prior to that filled with an infectious buzz of excitement for the Lil Darlings of Vaudeville… before Saturday night (drew in more) for Saturday Night Fever,” he said.
Mr Schulz praised the diverse crowd and said the new site would continue the tradition of a family friendly event.
“The crowds came in a variety of forms, from younger couples and families, to grandparents and older groups of friends,” he said.
“Wandering the halls, it was great to see cultures of all kinds admiring with interest the outcomes of a year’s hard work in the form of our local exhibits.”
