Cannington: charges laid over Bunnings chainsaw incident

POLICE have charged a man over an incident outside Bunnings in Cannington in which a man damaged his car with a chainsaw.

About 6pm on Wednesday, a man got out of his vehicle near Liege Street in Cannington and used a golf club and a chainsaw to damage his car.

Police attended a short time later and they allege the man shouted at them in an aggressive state.

Officers drew their tasers and instructed the man to drop to the ground.

The man complied with police and was handcuffed.

He continued to shout and began kicking out with his legs.

Bystanders assisted police in restraining the man until further police officers arrived.

An ambulance arrived and the man was conveyed to Royal Perth Hospital for a medical assessment.

A 27-year-old man from Beckenham has been charged with the following offences disorderly behaviour in public and possession of methylamphetamine.

He is due to appear in court at a later date.

The investigation is ongoing.
