A BIT of Christmas cheer goes a long way, and for a local combined choir the joy of song will be their gift to the community.
About 30 singers from the Combined District Ecumenical Choir will take to the stage at Riverton’s Queen of Apostles church to sing traditional and new Christmas carols.
Choir director Deidre Russell said the group of singers, who come from church choirs in Willetton, Shelley and Riverton were excited to be part of the 25th year of the choir.
“It is a lot of fun, a very social thing and we get new people every year,” she said.
“It’s a mixture of music and Christians and the combination is fantastic.”
Mrs Russell said she had spent most of the year tailoring the songs to entertain young and old.
“The carols are all known and everybody will be able to sing along, and there will be a booklet to follow if you don’t know the words,” she said.
Mrs Russell said there would be a light supper served after the concert and encouraged people to drop in for the festivities.
Queen of Apostles Church is at Tribute Street East, Riverton.
The event is on December 10, 7.30pm
