City ready for cat laws

‘The City of Canning, along with three other local governments, will be using a joint animal care facility for the impoundment of cats,’ he said.

The new laws would require owners to have cats sterilised, micro chipped and registered with the local government.

The spokesman said the fee for releasing an impounded cat is $100 and $50 for transporting a cat back to its owner.

‘The City will be taking an educational rather than an enforcement approach,’ he said.
