Variety WA presented the vehicle to the school to allow students to access community programs, workplace learning, Tafe programs and excursions.

Castlereagh School cares for children between the ages of five and 18 who have intellectual and physical disabilities.

Principal Bob Meenan said that with about 20 students in wheelchairs he was grateful for the gift.

‘The bus will allow those students with disabilities to fully participate in community-based life skills programs,’ he said.

‘The generous support of Variety WA will make a real difference to the students living with special needs.’

Variety WA program advisor Phil Croot said it was a privilege to partner and support the school.

‘The school represents many things that are important to Variety WA,’ he said. ‘The opportunity for children to get out into the community is a key part of creating an inclusive environment.’
