Communicare: Cannington-based service to launch program to help parents back to work

Jessica NicoCanning Gazette

HELPING parents return to work is the goal behind a new program to be launched at Communicare in July.

The Cannington-based community services provider will launch the ParentsNext program on July 1, aiming to help parents plan and prepare to return to the workforce by the time their children reach school age.

Communicare chief executive Melissa Perry said the program worked by helping parents set goals and create pathways to reach those goals, while also linking them with relevant services and activities in their area.

She said the organisation recognised how hard it could be for parents to return to work after having children and aimed to provide a helping hand.

“It is an absolute pleasure to confirm that Communicare has been successful with our tender for ParentsNext,” she said.

“Communicare’s appointment to the ParentsNext program is testament to our strong expertise in delivering community services.”

Parents eligible for the program are those who have received a parenting payment within the last six months, have not been employed during that time and have a child under the age of six.
