Council branches out to Carousel

Staff ReporterCanning Gazette

Canning Commissioner Linton Reynolds said the city rented extra office space because there was no room available in the civic administration building.

‘Secondly, this will enable the team working on the City Centre Project to be permanently located within that precinct,’ Mr Reynolds said.

‘It will also enable ease of engagement with local businesses, commercial developers and aid the team to closely monitor the place activation strategies soon to be launched.’

The city is proposing to rent a space in Westfield Carousel for an initial two-year period starting from October 2014.

Mr Reynolds said the proposed rent was $74,000 per annum, inclusive of all outgoings, GST and some negotiated fit-out obligations. ‘The city has costed the fit-out for this space at around $80,000, which is an average cost for an office fit-out of this size,’ he said.

Up to 18 staff will be housed in the office, including staff working on associated major projects in the Cannington and Queens Park area.
