The day is the main revenue source for Radio Lollipop, which provides a live radio broadcasting service to children in hospitals around WA and a volunteer service to visit them and provide comfort and entertainment.

Public Transport Authority managing director Mark Burgess said Uniform Free Day raised a record-breaking $103,000 last year and he hoped to top the amount this year.

Transperth staff will be at Esplanade, Perth and Perth Underground stations between 6.30 and 8.30am on Wednesday, March 19, rattling yellow tins.

Bus drivers will also be dressing up.
