East Cannington indecent assault: man charged over pair of violent robberies

POLICE have charged a 28-year-old man over a pair of violent robberies in East Cannington in April and June.

On Tuesday April 24, the man approached a 34-year-old woman on Station Street.

He allegedly ran at her before grabbing her handbag and mobile phone, dragging her to the ground and leaving her with minor injuries.

Then, just after midnight on June 9, he allegedly rode a bike towards a 25-year-old woman from Hong Kong who was walking along Railway Parade.

He allegedly struck the woman over the head with a hammer and indecently assaulted her before riding away with her handbag.

She required treatment in Royal Perth Hospital for her head wound.

The man will appear in Perth Magistrates Court today charged with aggravated indecent assault, aggravated armed robbery, robbery and act or omission causing bodily harm.
