A COUPLE who frequent Westfield Carousel are concerned paid parking will be introduced at the shopping centre after markings for sensors and cones around power supplies were recently spotted at carpark entrances.

Cannington resident Shani Ip and her husband frequently shop at Carousel and said they noticed the change just over a week ago.

Mrs Ip said she tried asking the centre’s information desk about it but no explanation was forthcoming.

“There are cement islands to separate the lanes at every parking entrance and there is marking in the road for sensors and cones around a power supply – we are assuming that’s where a boom gate could be installed,” she said.

A spokeswoman for Westfield said : “While there will be improvements and amendments to the Carousel carpark as part of the wider $350 million redevelopment, we’re not in a position to confirm details at this stage but expect to be making announcement soon.”
